The group slept through the night, with Xavier and Luxor taking shifts as night guards. Later that night, as Xavier was about to switch positions with Luxor, an Ordox, which is a bird-man with talons on the thumbs and a clubbed tail with golden wings appeared. The Ordox swooped behind Xavier landing with a thud. Shaking, Luxor whispered, “L-look b-behind y-you.” Xavier, seeing the fear in Luxor’s eyes did so, but turned around swiftly with his sword in his hand. The Ordox flew up, the sword just missing its feet. The Ordox didn’t stop there; instead, it dove towards the two men with each talon pointing towards a man. Luxor and Xavier saw this, and just before the talons hit them, they dived out of the way and rolled to opposite ends. The Ordox couldn’t stop and crashed to the ground in a big cloud of dust.
“That was close.” Xavier sighed, but he didn’t let his guard down. Slowly taking out his sword, he looked at the dust cloud with Luxor, eyes staring intently. The cloud slowly disappeared, and when it left, the Ordox was gone! Before he could do anything, the Ordox came behind him and knocked him to the ground.
