“Stay back!” Xavier commanded the kids, his arms outstretched to stop them from stepping any closer. He pulled out his sword and stood in his intimidating fighting position, but the Dreodon took no notice and it stepped closer. Xavier stood without hesitation, and when the Dreodon leaped at him, he swung his sword, and the Dreodon’s body fell to the ground. Xavier did not let his guard down, for he knew that Dreodons traveled in groups. He circled Arthur and Amy, keeping an eye out for other Dreodons that may be famished. He saw a group of five, and ordered Arthur and Amy to stay close to him so they wouldn’t get hurt. Two Dreodons hurdled at Xavier, but with a horizontal slash they quickly plunged to the ground. Two others circled him on opposite ends, ready to jump. As they bounded at him, “Duck!” Xavier yelled, and the kids ducked as he pulled out his spare knife and outstretched his arms at the last second, stabbing each one in the heart. “That was close!” He barely had time to sigh, because he turned to see one more soaring at him just inches away, its horns towards himself. He shielded himself in fear, his eyes closed, and just when he thought he was dead, he opened his eyes to see the Dreodon on the ground and another man knifing it.
